As a fan of Robert Altman’s work, “Dr. T & the Women” is one of my favorite films. It’s a quirky and unique story that explores the life of a successful gynecologist who finds himself drowning in the sea of women in his life. The movie premiered in 2000, but still manages to captivate audiences with its charming plot, relatable characters, and visually stunning cinematography.
The film tells the story of Dr. Sullivan “Sully” Travis (Richard Gere), an affable and handsome gynecologist who lives in Dallas, Texas. He has a thriving practice and is loved by his patients and staff alike. However, he has to juggle his professional responsibilities with his personal life, which consists of his wife Kate (Farrah Fawcett), his three daughters (Tara Reid, Kate Hudson, Liv Tyler), and his sister-in-law Peggy (Laura Dern). On top of all this, he also happens to be romantically involved with several other women.
Richard Gere’s performance as Dr. Sully is what makes this movie work so well. He brings a natural charisma to the role that makes him highly likable despite his character’s flaws.
