The sun was setting over the densely packed city of Hong Kong as I made my way to the cinema to watch Tsui Hark’s new action thriller, “Knock Off”. The movie had received mixed reviews, but as an avid fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme and action movies, I couldn’t wait to see what all the fuss was about.
The movie opens with a bang, quite literally. A shipment of seemingly harmless toys explode in a factory, killing several workers. Marcus Ray (Van Damme) and Tommy Hendricks (Rob Schneider), two knock-off goods salesmen, are caught in the chaos and soon find themselves entangled in a dangerous web of corporate espionage and global terrorism.
As the plot unfolds, we learn that the toys were not just innocent playthings but contained micro-bombs designed by a ruthless terrorist group to wreak havoc on unsuspecting consumers worldwide.
